2019: A Year in Review
We are almost nearing the end of 2019 and will soon be welcoming a new decade in 2020! We have had a fantastic year hosting 26 successful citywide conferences, each so unique from the other and bringing people from across the globe to our beautiful city. Here are some highlights from the meetings that took place in 2019!
The World Sleep Society (founded by World Association of Sleep Medicine and World Sleep Federation), collaborated with the Canadian Sleep Society in hosting World Sleep 2019 in April at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This meeting allowed for a worldwide forum inviting sleep professionals to “advance current medical and scientific thinking, discover ways to improve sleep health and encourage the prevention and treatment of sleep disorders.”
Vancouver, being one of the world’s greenest cities, was proud to host the Ecocity World Summit, at the Vancouver Convention Centre, West Building, attracting 1200 attendees. This meeting strives to share possible solutions emerging with new leadership and new partnerships, and ways for cities to build the bridge to be socially just and ecologically sustainable.
With ice hockey being Canada’s National Winter Sport, there was much excitement in the city during the 2019 NHL Draft hosted at Rogers Arena. This was the 57th NHL Entry Draft, attracting 10,000 attendees as well as fans in addition to that.
It has been another successful year and we cannot wait for our upcoming meetings in 2020! In February, we welcome back the highly regarded 2020 GLOBE Forum presented by the Globe Foundation of Canada. This meeting will take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, attracting 8000 attendees. For more information, visit: https://www.globeseries.com/forum/
