Ambassador Spotlight: Dr. Hong Zhang
On September 24th, Vancouver welcomed individuals from all over the word to participate in the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS). This meeting successfully drew about 1500 people who had the chance to experience IROS 2017’s theme, “Friendly People, Friendly Robots.”
2017 IROS General Chair, Dr. Hong Zhang, acted as the ambassador and worked with the Be a Host team to bring this meeting to Vancouver.
Dr. Hong Zhang is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alberta since 1988. His research interests include robotics, computer vision, and image processing. He has over 10 years of experience with robotics and has been on multi-robot systems and visual robot navigation.
We would like to send our appreciation to Dr. Zhang, the organizing committee and other program chairs for showcasing our beautiful city. Also, with the support of IEEE/RSJ, we hope that Vancouver will prosper as one of the leading cities in robotics.
